Rules
We play by the PDGA rules with the exemption of local rules that have first priority. The course in Valbyparken has the following local rules:
1. On most holes if you land in a lake or inside the OB line of the lake, you must play from the marked drop zone with a penalty throw. Look in the Players Handbook and on the tee signs to be sure, when OB in the lakes are played from the drop zones.
2. If you tee-off and land in the lake on hole 14, you'll get a penalty throw and have to re-tee (each time).
All other OB's than the above mentioned (roads, paths and so on) are penalized by the normal OB rules (see §803.09B in the PDGA rules).
Note: The paving stones between the grass and the road on the right side of holes 5/17 and left side of holes 6/10 are NOT OB; only the road itself (and beyond) is OB!
Note also that there are mandatories on holes 1, 2, 5 and 18. There will be clearly marked arrows by the respective trees, clearly marked mandatory lines on the grass and marked drop zones for missed mandatories.
There will be NO 2-meter out-of-bounds rule in effect for this tournament.
Round starts
2 minutes ahead of the start of all rounds (except in the Open final) there will be repeated horn signals. No practice throws are allowed after these signals (§804.02 in the PDGA rules).
The actual round start is announced by a long horn signal. It is not allowed to start until the signal has sounded.
We also stress the 30 second rule (§801.03A in the PDGA rules) and the 3 minute rule (§803.11A in the PDGA rules), so that we will be able to stay on schedule.
If the tournament has to be temporarily delayed, for example in case of a thunderstorm, this will be signalled with repeated long signals.
Scorecards
The first player in each group is responsible for the group's scorecards. This includes making sure that the scorecards are taken with the group on the round and that the scorecards are returned to the tournament center after the round, so that the staff can start processing the results. Note: It is important that you return the scorecards as soon as possible after it is signed by all players.
The scorecards should be picked up at the times mentioned in the schedule from the leaderboard. There will be NO announcements of scorecards at the players meetings or other times before the rounds.
Please review all scoring procedures in the rules (§804.03) to prevent incorrect scorecards and the resulting penalty throws.
Tees
All tee signs are marked with the Copenhagen Open-logo, the hole number, distance and par. Please note that some tees and all hole numbers on the permanent 12 hole course are changed to satisfy the demands of Pro touring players. It is ALWAYS the Copenhagen Open-tee sign that is in effect - not the wooden tee poles.
The tees are clearly marked with a white frontline and paving stones on the left and right sides. Please note that it is this line that is the front tee line and that you must release the disc inside 3 meters of this line (see §803.02A in the PDGA rules).
This year we even have shortened tees for the Women to play on three selected holes. These are clearly marked with a pink sign and a pink frontline.
Note: Some tees are improved with artificial grass mats on top of the ordinary grass tees, where the ground is to wet or irregular. It is still rule §803.02A that applies and thus the artificial grass mat doesn't count as a big tee pad.
Spotters
On certain holes there will be spotters to prevent lost discs and to check on blind holes for OB's and mandatories. The spotters have no "official-status" regarding OB-decisions and rules. Hence, the group has to make their own calls on OB's (remember to play provisional throws and note two scores for the player if the group is in doubt).
Doubles
There will be a common "Pick-up Doubles" tournament on Friday 23/4-2010. Register and pay at the tournament center, get a scorecard, find another pair to play with and play 18 holes "Best shot" - beginning from hole 4. The price for Doubles is 75 DKK per pair, all of which will go to doubles prize money. Please hand in the scorecards right after your round or on Saturday morning if you finish very late.
If you are attending the main tournament as well, please register for this at the same time as registering for the Doubles.
Tournament center
The tournament center is a big tent right next to the main parking lot and the toilets. Everything from registration, handing out scorecards, and a drinks/snacks stand to lunches and prize ceremonies will be found here. The tournament center will have an information board with all changes/updates regarding the tournament.
THE INFORMATION ON THIS BOARD IS ALWAYS CORRECT AND SHOULD BE FOLLOWED! PLEASE CHECK THIS BOARD REGULARLY.
On-site tournament registration
Please register for the tournament at the tournament center prior to the tournament start, either on Friday from 13:30 to 18:00 or on Saturday from 7:15 to 7:45. At registration you will receive last minute information, players handbook etc.
PLEASE REMEMBER THIS ON-SITE REGISTRATION TO CONFIRM YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THE TOURNAMENT AND TO PREVENT EXTRA WORK FOR THE STAFF. THANK YOU.
Warm up/practice
The full course (except for some OB, tee-signs and direction signs) will be set up and ready to play from Thursday 22/4-2010 at 18:00.
There will be plenty of room close to the tournament center to practice driving and there will be practice baskets for putting near the tournament center tent.
Drinking water
There will be drinking water at the tournament center and close to some tees on the course.
Toilets
There is one toilet right next to the tournament center and one at the cafeteria located close to the tournament center. Drinking water can also be tapped from the sinks at the toilets.
Results
The results and groupings will continuously be updated on the leaderboard and, if necessary, printed out. This website will be updated with all results in the evening following each day's play.
Merchandise
There will be a shop selling discs and other merchandise during the tournament (discsalg.dk). We urge all players to support this dedicated Danish disc selling company, which has done a great deal to support the sport in a small market.
Final
The 9 hole final is played on holes 1-5 + 15-18 (par 33) in all established divisions by the top 25% (max. 36 players in total).
Sudden deaths
Sudden deaths are played to resolve ties before finals and/or ties for trophy candidates in ALL divisions.
Sudden deaths are played on holes 2, 3 and 4. If a winner isn't found after these three holes, there will be closest-to pin on hole 4.
Hole-in-one
HIO is played during the Saturday rounds and first round on Sunday (rounds 1 to 3). All HIO will receive prizes (sponsored merchandise).
Closest-to-pin
CTP is played during the Saturday rounds and first round on Sunday (rounds 1 to 3) on hole 6. The winner will receive the CTP-prize, which consists of sponsored merchandise. If a hole-in-one is made on the CTP hole, it will count as a hole-in-one, and not as a CTP. You will therefore get the prize for the hole-in-one instead.
Note: Prizes for ALL hole-in-ones and closest-to-pin will be distributed at the prize ceremony after the tournament!
